Candle

Materials Needed:

  • toilet paper roll 
  • little stars
  • glue 
  • scissors 
  • markers
  • paper
     
  • Instructions:
    1. Cut a peice of paper to fit around the toilet paper roll.
    2. Cut a flame shape peice of paper and cut little stars(or buy some from the store)
    3. Glue the paper on the toilet paper roll.
    4. Color the toilet paper roll as desired.
    5. Glue on the stars to decorate the candle.
    6. Glue on the flame to finish the candle.
    7. Place the candle on a doily if desired (you may want to tape it on).
    8. Feel free to decorate further with sparkles, sparkle glue, sequins or anything else the kids can think of.
     

    Handprint Wreath

    Materials Needed:
    • glue, 
    • scissors,
    • red, white and blue paint or construction paper.

    Instructions:
    1. Trace the child's hand onto paper and cut out the prints.  
    2. Make nine handprints (3 of each colour). 
    3. Cut out the prints and glue to form a wreath. 
    4. Decorate as desired.
    5. OPTIONAL: You can place your childs photo in the middle of the wreath.

     

    Carrot Easter Basket



    Materials Needed:
  • a printer
  • glue
  • scissors
  • ribbon (to hang it with)
  • a piece of paper (I prefer construction paper).

  • Instructions:

    1. Cut out Templet (Bottom of page)
    2. Color templet
    3. Cut the pieces out.   (Cutting may require adult assistance and can be pre-done).  Cut along the solid lines only!
    4. Glue on the leaves to make a basket that looks like a carrot
    5. If you look at the bottom of the half circle (the straight part), you'll see the "glue here". Glue, staple or tape the side on the right to the side on the left.
    6. Tape on a ribbon handle

    Easter Egg Paper Plate Handprint Basket

    Materials Needed:

  • glue
  • scissors
  • markers/crayons
  • paper plate
  • paint and paintbrush (we used brown)

  • Instructions:
    1. Cut 9 oval shapped pieces used for the eggs.
    2. Color your eggs with markers/crayons.
    3. Cut out the top half of the paper plate, leaving the rim intact.
    4. Paint the bottom of the paper plate brown, including the rim.
    5. Trace the plate onto a piece of construction paper or cardboard (old cereal boxes work well).
    6. Cut out the piece.
    7. Glue or tape the piece onto the back of the painted plate.  This will create a narrow 'pocket' or basket.
    8. Glue eggs into the basket.  Some against the back of the basket and some inside the front. 
    9. Trace handprints onto construction paper in whatever colour you prefer.
    10. Glue or tape the handprints along the rim of the basket as a handprint handle.


    Easter Bunny Wreath


    Materials Needed:
    • Ring of cardboard (empty cereal boxes work wonderfully)
    • construction paper (pink and yellow)
    • scissors
    • glue
    • Templates (bottom of page)
    Instructions:
    • Trace a small plate and a large plate onto a piece of old cardboard.    
    • Empty cereal boxes or frozen dinner boxes work well  
    • It doesn't matter if you go over the folds of the cardboard 
    • Cut a small strip of cardboard and glue it onto the back of the ring over any folds in the cardboard.  
    • This will reinforce the ring.
    • Cut strips of construction paper (about 1 1/2 inches by 4 inches)
    • glue the strips into rolls (like making a paper chain
    • Glue the rolls of construction paper onto the wreath.  We made a pink and yellow pattern, but you can do it however you wish.  
    • Print out the template of choice.
    • Color the template pieces and cut out.  
    • Glue the head, easter egg and two paws on top of the wreath.  
    • Glue the body, tail and two paws on the back of the wreath (so it looks like the bunny is peeking over the top.

    Bat Mobile


    Materials Needed:
    • 1 sheet black construction paper
    • Black thread, cut into 6 different lengths
    • White craft glue
    • 6 pennies
    • 2- 12" wooden dowels
    • Orange paint
    • Paintbrush
    • Black permanent marker
    • Black jewelry cord or yarn
    • Scissors
    Instructions:
    1. Paint the dowels with orange paint and let them dry.
    2. Using the patter (down below), cut out 6 bat wings from black construction paper.
    3. Once cut out. Place a dot of glue onto the center of the bat wings and place a piece of black thread into the glue.
    4. Press a penny into the glue on top of the thread. Repeat for all 6 bats.
    5. Color the pennies with black permanent marker.
    6. Cut two lengths of jewelry cord, 24" long each.
    7. Tie one end of cord to the center of one of the dowels.
    8. Tie the other end to the center of the second dowel.
    9. Tie the other piece of jewelry cord to the center of one of the dowels, leaving the end loose; this will be the end from which you'll hang the mobile. (Lay your mobile flat on the work surface. Tie two hanging bats from the top dowel, on the left and the right. They should be short enough that they do not reach the bottom dowel. Tie the other four bats to the bottom dowel. The first one should be long, second short, third long and the fourth one short.
    10. Hang your mobile to see if everything is evenly spaced. If one side is too heavy, glue a penny to the other side of the lightweight bat.

    BAT PATTERN:

    Vampire Lollipops

    Materials Needed:
    • Red cellophane
    • Lollipops
    • Black felt
    • Twist ties
    • White address labels
    • Scissors
    • Peel and stick wiggle eyes
    Instructions:
    1. Cut capes (one for each lollipop) from black felt.
    2. Cut a piece of cellophane into a square, large enough to wrap around the head of the lollipop.
    3. Loosely wrap the cellophane around the lollipop and place the wrapped lollipop onto the felt cape.
    4. Wrap twist tie around both at the neck of the lollipop.
    5. Cut fangs from white address labels and stick to the front of the lollipop.
    6.  Attach peel and stick wiggle eyes to the front of the lollipop.

    Lolipop Cozies

    Materials Needed:
    • 6" x 4" piece of Valentine themed fabric
    • Scissors
    • 3 stick pins
    • Needle
    • White thread
    • Lollipop
    • Heart Pattern
    Instructions:
    1.  Fold the piece of paper the pattern is printed on at the fold line indicated on the pattern.
    2.  Cut pattern out so when the paper is opened, it is in the shape of a heart.
    3. Fold fabric over so that it is two-ply thick.
    4. Place pattern onto fabric and pin in place.
    5. Cut around pattern then remove pins and pattern.
    6. Place the lollipop on top of the fabric you just cut out.
    7. You will need to make sure that the bottom opening is large enough for the head of the lollipop to fit through.
    8. Trim the open of the fabric as needed.
    9. Use a simple stitch (such as a blanket stitch) to sew the two pieces of fabric together.
    10. Be sure to leave the bottom open to slide the lollipop into.
    11. Tie off the ending stitch and slide the lollipop inside!

    Paper Love Bug

    Materials Needed:
    • Empty toilet paper tube
    • Pink paper
    • Scissors
    • Glue
    • Pipe cleaners
    • Pen, maker, crayons, or pencil
    Instructions:
    1. Paint or cover an empty toilet tube with pink paper to make the body of the bug.
    2. Cut two hearts from construction paper.
    3. Attach these with tape or glue on either side of the body.
    4. Encourage your child to draw a face on the top of the tube. Pipe cleaners make great antennae.
    5. Write a cute message on the wings such as "Valentine, you make my heart flutter."

    Heart-Shaped Finger Puppet

    Materials Needed:
    • Scissors
    • Pink, red, and white poster board
    • Glue
    Instructions:
    1. Cut out a three-inch paper heart and a one-inch paper heart from red (or pink) poster board.
    2. Make two finger holes in the top of the large heart.
    3. Draw a face on the smaller one.
    4. Overlap pointed ends of the hearts and glue these together.
    5. Accordion-fold strips of paper and glue these to the heart for arms.
    6. Place your fingers inside the holes and manipulate these heart puppets. 
    7. Kids will enjoy working the puppets alone. Make up a story together about this valentine puppet or sing a favorite song.

    Valentine Hat

    Materials Needed:
    • Red pre-cut adhesive-backed craft foam hearts in small (2) and large (2) sizes
    • Red chenille stems
    • Wire cutters
    • Pen
    • Scissors
    • Hot glue gun
    • White poster board
    • Ruler
    • Stapler, tape, or glue (to fasten hat together)
    • Pink pre-cut adhesive-backed craft foam hearts in small size (optional)
    Instructions:
    1. Cut a strip of poster board to fit around a child's head and about 2" wide.
    2. Determine where the sides of a child's head is by trying the band on. Mark with pen.
    3. Cut red chenille stems in half using the wire cutters.
    4. Glue the stems on the outside of the poster board where marked.
    5. Glue a small heart over each of the chenille stems that are attached to the poster board.
    6. Glue a large red heart at the other end of each of the chenille stems.
    7. Let the children decorate using the remaining small craft foam hearts or any other decoration such as lace, stickers, markers, and crayons.
    8. Tape, glue, or staple the hat closed to fit the child. (Paper clips also work)

    Lucky Pot of Gold

    Materials Needed:
    • 2” wooden circle
    • 1 each black and gold chenille stem
    • 5 medium gold glitter pom poms
    • 8 green sequins
    • Black acrylic paint
    • Paint brush
    • White craft glue or hot glue gun
    • Magnet or pin back
     Instructions:
    1. Paint the wooden circle black.
    2. Cut both the black and gold chenille stems in half, save the halves for another project.
    3. Twist your trimmed-down black and gold chenille stems together to form the pot handle.
    4. Glue the ends of the chenille stem to the back of the wooden circle.
    5. Glue the pom poms to the top portion of the black circle so that they hide the top of the circle.
    6. Glue the green sequins under the gold pom poms for the pot band.
    7. Glue magnet or pin back to the back of you project.

      

    Leprechaun Hats for Kids

    Materials Needed:
    • 10x13" Green construction paper
    • 9x12" Black construction paper
    • 9x12" Yellow construction paper
    • Tape
    • Pen or pencil
    • Scissors
    • Glue
    Instructions:
    1. Cut a circle out of the green construction paper the full size of the paper.
    2. Cut a strip of paper to make a band to put around the boy's head, tape it. Put that circle (slightly oval) on the paper to trace the inner circle. Then draw a circle around it. Leave about a 2" brim on 3 sides and about 4" on the "front".
    3. Draw the trapezoid, and cut out the gray parts. (see photo)
    4. Cut out a band out of black paper and a buckle out of yellow paper.
    5. Glue the hat band on the hat and then the buckle on top of the band.
    6. Bend the hat piece up and try on the child.
    7. You may need to adjust the opening to fit the individual child's head.
    8. On the underneath side, apply tape to the two points where the hat bends. This will help reinforce the stress point, and hopefully prevent tearing.

    Leprechaun Hat for Chips

    Materials Needed:
    • 1/2 gallon Round ice cream container, clean and dry (you do not need the lid)
    • 2 or 3 sheets of Green construction paper
    • 1 sheet of Yellow or Gray construction paper
    • 1 sheet of Black construction paper
    • Scissors
    • Ruler
    • Pen
    • Double stick tape
    • Large circular object (however wide the construction paper is)
    Instructions:
    1. Trace around the large circular object on the green construction paper with the pen.
    2. Cut out the circle.
    3. Use the double stick tape to adhere the circle to the bottom of the ice cream container.
    4. Cut a piece of green construction paper to fit around the container. You may need two pieces of construction paper or be able to piece them together.
    5. Use the double stick tape to adhere the construction paper around the container.
    6. Cut a strip about 2" wide out of the black construction paper.
    7. Cut a 4" square out of the gray or yellow construction paper.
    8. Cut a rectangle in the middle of the gray construction paper about 1 1/4" x 2". Discard the little piece of construction paper. Hint: Fold the square into fourths and cut a square out of the middle of the folded area. Open up the square.
    9. Check positioning of the black band by laying it around the hat about an inch above the brim. Cut off any excess construction paper where it meets in the back.
    10. Lay the gray or yellow (buckle) over the black band as shown in the photograph. Once the layout is satisfactory, tape in place.
    11. Add green tortilla chips, if available, and get ready for your feast.

    Festive Polka Dot Ornaments

    Materials Needed:
    • Glass ball ornaments
    • Red and green acrylic paint
    • Paint brush
    • ribbon
    • empty egg carton
    Instructions:
    1. Turn the empty egg carton upside down. This will serve as your stand as you decorate.
    2. Place ornament upside down on egg carton, resting it between egg cups.
    3. Using the handle end of a paint brush, dip the end of the handle into paint then dot onto the ornament. You will need to re-dip after each dot.
    4. Dot all around the ornament and let dry completely.
    5. Once dry, tie a piece of ribbon through the hanger hook on the ornament.

    Snow Man Ornament

    Materials Needed:
    • large craft sticks
    • small twigs
    • white and black acrylic craft paint
    • orange toothpicks
    • colorful felt
    • Glittery chenille sticks
    • Shiny pom poms
    • Black craft foam
    • Buttons or sequins
    • Ribbon
    • Hot glue gun
    • Scissors
    Instructions:
    1. Paint the craft sticks white and let dry completely.
    2. Break twigs into pieces about 3 inches long.
    3. Cut strips of colorful felt to make scarves, fringe the ends with scissors.
    4. Cut the end off of an orange toothpick, about 1 inch long.
    5. Cut a hat out of black craft foam.
    6. Using the wrong end of a paintbrush, dip the end into black paint, then dot on an eye, repeat for the other eye. Repeat this process for the mouth. Or, use a round-tip marker.
    7. Glue the orange toothpick nose in place.
    8. Tie the felt scarf around the snowman’s neck, or simply fold over to look like it’s blowing in the wind, and then glue it in place.
    9. Glue on hat. If you prefer ear muffs, cut a piece of chenille stick to fit around top of head, then glue in place. Glue on pom poms for the muffs.
    10. Glue buttons or sequins in a line below the scarf.
    11. Cut a piece of ribbon 8-10 inches long for the hanger. Fold in half and glue the open ends together on the back of the snowman’s head.
    12. Lastly, glue on the stick arms and let your snowman dry in a safe place where he won’t get bumped.

    Santa Clause Ornament

    Materials Needed:
    • 8 mini craft sticks
    • Acrylic paint: red, white, flesh colored paint (we used peach), pink, black
    • 3” x 3” piece of white cardboard or cardstock
    • 6” piece of green yarn
    • White craft glue
    • Paintbrush
    • Scissors

    Instructions:
    1. Paint six of the craft sticks white and the remaining two red. Set aside to dry.
    2. Place the craft sticks onto the white cardboard and arrange them as pictured: Take a white craft stick and place it in the center. Then stagger other four in a stair formation with two on the left and two on the right. The last remaining white craft stick should be layed horizontally across the top of the other white craft sticks. The two red sticks should be positioned in a triangle to make a hat.
    3. Use a pencil to lightly mark the outer edges of the triangular opening of the hat and the face opening.
    4. Remove the craft sticks and paint those two areas, the hat area red, and the facial area with the flesh colored paint. Let dry.
    5. Cut out around the painted areas, though keep it all in one piece so you can glue your craft sticks to it.
    6. Glue the craft sticks to the cardboard and to each other. Allow to dry.
    7. Use the handle end of a paintbrush to dot on two pick cheeks and two black eyes. Mix a small amount of pink and peach and dot on for nose.
    8. Loop the green yarn and tie in a knot. Glue the knotted end to the back of the ornament.

    Wind Chimes (beaded)

    Materials Needed:
    • Paper cup
    • Pipe cleaner
    • Strings
    • Big beads
    • Small bells
    • Metal shank button or metal washer
    • Drinking straws
    • Poster paint or acrylic paint
    • Paint brushes
    • Palette
    • Scissors
    • Hole punch

    Instructions:

    1. Trim a paper cup to a height of approximately 2 to 3 inches.
    2. Punch 4 evenly-spaced holes around the cup's mouth.
    3. Paint the paper cup with poster paint and make your own designs. You may even finger paint if you like. *Use acrylic paint if the surface of your paper cup is glossy or waxy.
    4. Cut 4 equal lengths of string approximately 12 inches long. Cut a 5th string that is 2 inches longer.
    5. Tie a small bell at the end of 4 of the strings. Set the 5th string aside for the pendulum.
    6. Cut drinking straws into ¾ to 1-inch long pieces. 
    7. String beads and drinking straws through each of the 4 strings. Leave an allowance of 1.5 to 2 inches at the top of each string.
    8. Attach the beaded strings around the painted paper cup by securing the top end of each string around the punched-out holes.
    9. To make the pendulum, trim a pipe cleaner to around 6 inches and make a loop on one end.
    10. Tie one end of the 5th string through the loop on the pipe cleaner.
    11. Attach a metal shank button or metal washer on the other end of the string.
    12. Punch a small hole at the center of the paper cup base. 
    13. Attach the pendulum to the wind chimes by inserting the end of the pipe cleaner through the hole at the center of the paper cup. Pull all the way through, the loop on the pipe cleaner serves as a stopper.
    14. Check if the metal button or washer is at the same level as the bells.   
    15. Loop the pipe cleaner on top to make the wind chimes' handle. 
    16. Hang the wind chimes where it can catch a soft breeze.

      

    Caribbean Foot Jewelry (beading)

    Materials Needed:
    • About 20 grams of Small Glass Beads
    • 4mm Gold or Silver Beads
    • Beading Elastic
    • White Glue

    Instructions:

    • Cut a 30" length of elastic. Stiffen ends with white glue.
    • String about 12 glass beads on the elastic to the center of the cord. Make sure you have enough to go around your second toe. Push both ends of the elastic through a 4mm bead making a loop for your toe. String about 1" of beads on each end making sure they are even in length. Push both ends of the elastic through a 4mm bead.
    • String another 1" of beads on each end. Push both ends of the elastic through a final 4mm bead. Add glass beads to both ends until you have enough to go around your ankle. Tie off with a double knot and trim.

      

    Halloween Spider (beaded)

    Materials Needed:
    • 5 Black Pipe Cleaners
    • 13 Black Pony Beads
    • 32 Orange Pipe Cleaners
    • Scissors

    Instructions:
    1. Click on Printables to see an illustrated diagram for bead placement. 
    2. Slide 7 black pony beads to the middle of a black pipe cleaner. Fold in half. Slide both ends through another pony bead, pushing it up to the other beads. This will form the back section of the spider. 
    3. Fold two pipe cleaners in half and push through the last bead strung. 
    4. Slide three black pony beads on one end.
    5. Slide two black pony beads on the other end and then through the third bead on the other side to form the head.
    6. Wrap a pipe cleaner above and a pipe cleaner below the middle bead. 
    7. Trim the escess pipe cleaner used to form the head bending the ends to secure the beads.
    8. String four orange beads on each each leg. Shape the legs

    Paper Beads

    Materials Needed:

    wrapping paper or colourful magazine pages
    scissors
    glue stick
    a knitting needle or straw


    Instructions:


    1.Cut triangles from your paper approximately 2 inches or less across the bottom and about 10 inches tall. Each triangle will make one bead. Cut as many as you need.
     
    2.Place the triangle wrong side up on the table. Lay the knitting needle or straw along the wide end of the triangle. (See picture at left)
     
    3.Tightly roll the strip around the knitting needle or straw twice.
     
    4.Put glue on the remainder of your triangular strip and continue to roll the paper evenly.
     
    5.To finish the bead, glue down the narrow end and hold in place until the glue sets. Slip bead off of the needle or straw and continue working steps 2-4 until you have as many beads as you want.
     
    6.String beads on heavy thread, a shoe lace or wool. Tie ends together.

    Flip Flop Art

    Materials Needed:
     
    an old flip-plop
    preferably one with textured surface
    acrylic paints
    a pair of scissors
    brush
    paper or textile
     
     
    Instructions:
     
    1. Cut simple shapes from the flip-flop
    2. Dip the shapes into paint
    3. Stamp them on a peice of paper
    4. Use your stamps freely. Color and mix.

    Egg Carton Tulips

    Materials Needed:
    • Clean cardboard egg cartons
    • Scissors
    • Green chenille (pipe cleaners)
    • Elmer's glue
    • Paint

    Instructions:

    1. Cut the egg carton into separate cups, leaving some of the middle "pop-up" sections. Cut the main cups into the pointed shape of the tulip petals. With the point of the scissors or a sharp pencil, poke a hole in the bottom of each cup. Paint and decorate each cup however you like.
    2. Tie the chenille in the center Cut the little center "pop-up" sections between the egg cups into small pointed shapes that will go beneath the tulip cups. Poke a hole in the center of each and paint green.
    3. When the pieces are dry, poke a piece of green chenille through the holes. Tie a loop on the end in the cup so it can't pull back out, and add a dab of glue between the two sections. Shape the chenille into leaf shapes and leave a few inches at the bottom for the stem.
    You can stick the stems of several fs into some clay or floral foam in the bottom of a pot. Or just tie together and wrap with pretty paper and a ribbon to give to mom!

    Milk Carton Bird House

    Materials Needed:


  • Milk carton
  • Stapler and staples
  • Masking tape
  • A soft cloth, rag or chamois
  • Brown paint (acrylic is best)
  • Scissors or a knife (and adult assistance)
  • Twine


  • Instructions:

    1. Clean and dry the milk carton thoroughly.
    2. Staple the top of the carton shut.
    3. Tear off small pieces of masking tape and cover the entire carton with the pieces of tape.
    4. Cut a hole (WITH ADULT ASSISTANCE) about 4" above the bottom of the carton. The hole should be approximately 1" to 1 1/2" in diameter. This hole is for the birds to get in and out of the house.
    5. Paint and decorate milk carton as desired

    6. Poke a few drainage holes in the bottom of the carton and two ventilation holes in the top of the carton.
    7. Poke a hole through the top of the feeder, string a piece of twine through the hole and hang your feeder on a tree.

    Nature Bracelet

    You Need :
    -1"  Masking Tape
    Instructions :
    1.Tear off a piece of masking tape to fit around child's wrist.
    2.Place it around wrist with the sticky side out.
    3.Go for a walk and find things to stick to the masking tape like leaves, wild flowers, twigs, seeds, pods, etc.
